The Anti-Corruption Establishment Punjab (ACE) arrested 10 employees of the Gujranwala Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE)  for allegedly inflating the marks of students in matriculation and intermediate examinations.

The arrested employees include Nadeem Hussain, Zaid Ahmed, Rabi Waqar, Younis, Asad Nauman, Zahid Sarfraz, Iftikhar Ahmed, Sajid Ali, Haseeb Abbas, and Arusa Naz. They are all employees of the BISE’s Computer Section.

According to the ACE, the employees were allegedly involved in inflating the marks of 11 candidates who scored between 400 and 500 marks in the examinations. One of the candidates was absent from the examination but still secured 953 marks.

The ACE said that the parents of the candidates had allegedly paid lakhs of rupees to the board employees for this illegal marking. A case has been registered against the accused under the Prevention of Corruption Act.

The ACE Director General, Captain (R) Muhammad Irfan, said that the ACE would not tolerate any kind of corruption and would take strict action against those involved in it. He said that the ACE had launched a crackdown against corruption in the education sector and would continue to do so until the system was clean.

The arrest of the 10 BISE employees has sent a strong message that the ACE is committed to rooting out corruption from the education sector. It is hoped that this will deter other corrupt officials from engaging in such activities.

The ACE has also appealed to the public to come forward and report any cases of corruption in the education sector. They can do so by contacting the ACE helpline number 0800-999-999.
