Nineteen female students of the University of Agriculture Faisalabad were awarded scholarships under Pakistan Scottish Scholarship Scheme funded by British Council to continue their studies at UAF.
Scholarship award ceremony was held in the Meeting Room of the varsity in which UAF Vice Chancellor Dr Muhammad Ashraf, British Council Deputy Country Director Mark Crossey, British Council Head of Higher Education and Skills Sarah Pervez, UAF Director Financial Assistance Dr Javaid Akhtar, UAF Principal Officer Estate Management Dr Qamar Bilal, Director Research Dr Zahir Ahmad Zahir and others distributed the scholarship certificates. The UAF has won 19 Pakistan Scottish Scholarship Scheme scholarship out of the 100 scholarships for the country.
Dr Muhammad Ashraf lauded the efforts of the British Council for strengthening educational and cultural ties for both countries. He hoped that this scholarship will help the students to sharpen their skills in the respective field and to continue the studies so that they can become an effective member of the society.
Talking about foreign education, he stressed upon the students to prepare themselves to compete for foreign scholarships after completing their studies at UAF so that they can play their pivotal role in the development of the country with diversified knowledge. He said that many students of the UAF had gotten education from British Universities and serving in their respective field with devotion.
Mark Crossey congratulated the students for winning the prestigious scholarship. He appreciated the UAF VC Dr Muhammad Ashraf and his team Dr Qamar Bilal for maintaining a clean and green campus. Sarah Pervez said that British Council with the representative of eight UK universities will guide the UAF students here at campus through the admission procedure and scholarship for education in UK. She said that they were also setting up Pakistan Scottish Scholarship Alumni Association for strengthening educational ties.
