LinkedIn

The highly anticipated 2nd International Business Conference and Exhibition is set to begin in Lahore on Saturday, October 28. The three-day event that will run from October 28-30 at Expo Centre Lahore will bring together hundreds of industry professionals, business leaders, investors, domestic and international exhibitors and academicians under the theme “Leading Business Transformation in Pakistan.

Besides providing an opportunity to established as well as nascent businesses to showcase their products to a large audience consisting of both foreign and local visitors, IBCE would also see international business and academic experts take part in informative and interactive sessions on key issues facing various industries. The focus of these discussions will be challenges and opportunities in key sectors such as health, clean and alternative energy, IT and telecom, housing, manufacturing and textile, and food. There will also be an exclusive session on how CPEC and transportation can ensure economic prosperity for Pakistan.

Mutual Gains

The event is being organized by the University of Management and Technology. This is a great omen for the business and education sector of the country. With rising global demands for enhanced industry-academia linkages, we think a prominent university of Pakistan taking the lead in organising a business exhibition has two major benefits. The first is obvious. A convergence of domestic, regional and global industrial giants and exhibitors is an ideal platform for learning from the world’s best, building vital B2B linkages and entering into lucrative collaborations and joint ventures that can immensely benefit both parties.

The second, and more important outcome, is the bridging of the industry-academia divide. With educational institutes becoming active players in such global business events, there is an exciting opportunity for both academicians and business personnel to understand where each is headed. Through such increased bilateral interactions, industry leaders can take stock of the trends, teachings, researches and other academic activities underway in higher education sector and gauge the potential of incorporating the same to take their businesses ahead. On the other hand, academicians too can better understand the needs of the industrial sector and adjust their curriculum and methodologies in order that graduates become are more readily absorbed in professional and industrial sectors.
