Finding the best way to study is an ongoing process. There is no such special approach when learning how to study effectively because every person has different abilities, so it is important to determine which way or strategy works the best for you. However, you should be constantly improving your study skills to understand better what may work because mastering effective study habits makes it easier to learn. Here we have listed the top 6 strategies to study effectively.

1. Asking questions

Questioning is the easiest and most essential tool while studying and it is one of the simplest strategies to start with. It is often seen that students tend not to ask questions in class, it might be because they are afraid of speaking in the class or of embarrassment. Students shouldn’t hold back from asking questions, because it will only help them to learn better. Students who may find it difficult to ask questions in front of the whole class should go to talk to a teacher after class.

2. Make a study schedule

Prepare a study schedule, be it daily or weekly, this helps students in covering their syllabus right on time and will also give plenty of time to revise the subjects. In this way, an individual will also know where they stand, how good they are performing, and they will be ahead of time in studying. A proper study schedule helps you in getting organized and managing time.

3. Take plenty of short breaks

Mostly people need breaks between subjects to freshen up their minds. Stick to a break schedule of maximum 10 to 20 minutes. For every 30 minutes you study, make sure you take a short break to recharge and freshen your mind. Taking active short breaks is a great way to keep your energy up and you will be at your most productive form when you return to doing your tasks.

4. Steer clear of distractions

Distractions are everywhere, from our televisions to cell phones to laptops. We are living in the era of technology; the constant use of our cell phones usually makes it hard to concentrate on the tasks which we are doing. This technology is a mode of distraction. Try to switch off your phones while studying because this will surely help you pay attention, understand better and get your work done faster.

5. Pay attention in class

It is very important to concentrate in the class while the teachers are speaking. Try to practice active listening by concentrating on what is being taught in the classroom and try writing notes side by side in your own words. These notes always come in handy later onwards and are a great way to revise everything that is taught in the class.

6. Look after yourself

You will study better only if you take care of yourself. Remember to stay hydrated, indulge in physical activities like exercising, eat well and have plenty of sleep. Don’t reward yourself with too much junk food or push yourself to study all night long. These could take a toll on your health. Set reminders on your phone to drink at least eight glasses of water.
