The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) made education and education reforms the cornerstones for its election manifesto and campaigns, terming its plans for reforming the sector “the most ambitious education agenda in Pakistan’s history”. Yet, the first full budget presented by the new provincial government has left much to be desired in terms of funds funneled towards education, falling even short of allocations made by the previous Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government in some areas.

Punjab Minister for School Education Murad Raas on Thursday led the launch of a new education policy for the province, aimed at transforming educational outcomes for the pupils of the most populous province in the country. The launch ceremony of the new policy, named Punjab New Deal 2018-23, was presided over by Punjab Chief Minister, while noted officials, intellectuals, scholars and educationists were in attendance.

The Government of Punjab will introduce an e-transfer policy for teachers to make the postings and transfers process fair, merit based and transparent, School Education Minister Murad Raas said on Tuesday.

Punjab Minister for School Education Dr Murad Raas has said that the provincial government would ensure implementation of the Supreme Court orders regarding private school fees at all costs. During a press talk on Friday in Lahore, Raas said the recommendations regarding an authority to monitor private schools and their affairs were with the provincial law ministry and the government would presented it in the Punjab Assembly soon.
