AAVMC Accreditation To UVAS Only A Matter Of Time

Association of American Veterinary Medical Colleges (AAVMC) Chief Executive Officer Dr Andrew T Maccabe visited the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) as a first step for granting the prestigious AAVMC accreditation to UVAS.

Maccabe held a meeting with UVAS Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha, UVAS Pro Vice-Chancellor/Dean Faculty of Veterinary Science Prof Dr Masood Rabbani and other senior faculty members. The delegation took a tour of the university departments, clinical facilities, labs and library facility at the city campus.

UVAS already had a provisional membership of AAVMC which is regarded as one of the most prestigious veterinary education body in the United States. According to UVAS Dean of Veterinary Science Prof Dr Masood Rabbani, this accreditation will facilitate the varsity to secure a license, assisting veterinary graduates to carry on their clinical practice in the US.

Giving a detailed presentation to the guests, UVAS Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha briefed the delegation about varsities academic, training, extension and research programmes and provided information about their clinical facilities as well. Prof Pasha said UVAS was one of the oldest and best veterinary varsities in Asia and secured third ranking among the best universities of Pakistan in the HEC’S sports ranking. UVAS was also included in the top 10 universities of Pakistan, according to the HEC’s overall university rankings, he added.

Prof Pasha briefed the delegate that the varsity was emphasising on applied research, technology transference, knowledge generation and quality human resource development. He said UVAS was also working in collaboration with the livestock and dairy industries to ensure quality education, along with problem-solving and speedy service delivery with relevant stakeholders.

Dr Andrew T Maccabe applauded the UVAS administration for their achievements and development in a short span of time. Later, Maccabe accompanied Prof Dr Masood Rabbani to the theriogenology lab, pathology lab, parasitology lab, physiology lab, ivpd facility, microbiology labs, anatomy and histology, meat technology departments, pet centre, IBBT labs, quality operations lab, outdoor facility, university diagnostic lab, business school and the IT centre.
