A delegation from the Asian Development Bank (ADB), led by Ms Xin Long, visited the Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) Secretariat today. The delegation met with the Chairman of TEVTA, Brig (R) Muhammad Sajid Khokhar, SI(M), to discuss the ongoing developments and future strategies in the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) sector in Punjab.

The visit was aimed at enhancing cooperation between ADB and TEVTA to improve vocational training and education standards in the region. The Chief Operating Officer (COO) of TEVTA welcomed the ADB delegation and provided a comprehensive presentation on the current state and future prospects of the TVET sector in Punjab. The presentation highlighted various initiatives, challenges, and opportunities within the sector.

Following the presentation, the floor was opened for a detailed discussion where the ADB team members raised several questions and queries. The discussion covered a wide range of topics including curriculum development, teacher training programs, industry linkages, and the integration of technology in vocational training.

Ms. Xin Long expressed her appreciation for the efforts being made by TEVTA to enhance vocational training and education in Punjab. She emphasized the importance of such collaborations in fostering economic growth and creating job opportunities for the youth.

Brig. Muhammad Sajid Khokhar acknowledged the support of ADB and reiterated TEVTA’s commitment to providing quality vocational education and training. He emphasized the need for continuous improvement and innovation in the TVET sector to meet the evolving demands of the job market.

The visit concluded with a mutual agreement to explore further avenues of collaboration and to work closely in addressing the challenges faced by the TVET sector in Punjab. Both parties expressed optimism about the positive impact that such partnerships can have on the region’s socio-economic development.

This visit marks a significant step towards strengthening the relationship between ADB and TEVTA, with a shared goal of advancing vocational education and training in Punjab to international standards.
