Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal inaugurated the newly constructed Admin Block at the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore along with Vice-Chancellor UET Lahore Prof Dr Syed Mansoor Sarwar.

The project was started in August 2018 and completed in December 2022 at a cost of 59.728 million rupees.

Vice-Chancellor UET Prof Dr Syed Mansoor Sarwar delivered a welcome address and thanked Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal for his services to UET. Chief Economist of Pakistan Dr Nadeem Javaid, Incharge HEC Regional Office Lahore Ghafoor Ahmad, Deans of all faculties, Chairmen of departments, Registrar Muhammad Asif, Teaching and Administrative Staff along with large number of students were also present on this occasion.

Addressing the participants of the ceremony, Ahsan Iqbal said, “our young generation is our asset. The challenge in front of the youth is that they should lead the country in the next 25 years. The young generation of Pakistan is talented in every way, if you look at South Asia, there is no such talent that other countries have but our youth don’t have. We are all concerned about better Pakistan, a stable Pakistan, and a developed Pakistan”.

He further said, “we have only one problem and that is political instability which is mainly due to lack of continuity of policies. Other countries are making more progress than us, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Malaysia are examples of this’ ‘.

“We have started a new project of 7.5 billion Rupees under which 5 best UETs will be selected from each province who will report according to the needs of the laboratory and from this budget the university will be provided with state-of-the-art Laboratory equipment. So that in the next 5 years UET becomes the MIT of Pakistan and UET will be on top in corporate governance” he added. In this regard, he invited all students, professors, and deans to send their suggestions to him through letters and e-mails.
