Complementing education by inculcating ethical values  can help in creating a social milieu of humanity and respect, said President Dr Arif Alvi on Wednesday. While addressing a ceremony to award the position holders of intermediate examinations from 28 education boards at the Aiwan-i-Sadr, he said: “Our nation has the potential to excel in all fields of life but lack of discipline and corruption need to be fixed.”

The high-achievers participated in the 15th National Summer Camp organised by the Inter-Board Committee of Chairmen to recognise the achievement of these youngsters by providing them with an opportunity to visit state institutions.

The president said education without ethics and moral values was futile. He urged youngsters to work hard and be honest in their actions, contributing  to the development and prosperity of the country.

He congratulated the meritorious students for securing top positions in examinations and urged them to always keep in mind the sacrifices and hard work of their teachers and parents that led to this success. The president asked them not to consider education as a means of securing employment alone, adding how vital it was to introduce improvement in society.
“You are the ones to reform this country as your good and bad will reflect out of it,” he added.

A total of 132 position holders were invited for the summer camp. The batch included students from Punjab’s nine education boards, 22 from Sindh’s seven boards, 36 from Khyber-Pukhtunkhwa’s nine boards and five from Balochistan’s one board.
