A seminar on Anti-Corruption Awareness was held at the University of Okara.
The Regional Director Anti-Corruption Establishment Sahiwal Mehar Shafqatullah Mushtaq, Assistant Commissioner Renala Qudsia Naz, Deputy Director Anti-Corruption Okara Ashfaq-Ur-Rehman Khan, Assistant Director Anti-Corruption Okara Amir Sultan Khan and Circle Officer Anti-Corruption Okara Mian Nawab Hussain attended the event and appraised the students on certain initiatives of the Provincial Anti-Corruption Department. The event was organized by the Director Student Affairs, DrShoaib Saleem. The Additional Registrar General Jamil Asim and Resident Officer General Shahzad Ahmad were also present there.
A large number of students and media persons attended the seminar. In his address, the Regional Director thanked the Vice Chancellor University of Okara Prof Dr Muhammad Zakria Zakar for allowing them to hold the event. He appealed to the students to play an active role in eradicating corruption from the society by reporting the misconducts and fraudulent activities through the mobile application of the Anti-Corruption Department.
He also applauded the role of the regional universities in spreading awareness to the peripheries. “If you have to change the culture of any society, establish a university over there. Corruption cannot be eliminated without awareness and awareness is emanated from universities,” said Shafqatullah.
The AC Renala told that the accountability can be strengthened if the educated youth become part of the anti-corruption process. The Deputy Director argued that corruption is the root cause of the all the social problems and the youth should come up to guide the authorities through the anti-corruption drive.
