LAHORE: The Academic Staff Association, Government College University (GCU) Lahore has demanded to appoint the permanent registrar, treasurer and controller of examinations in the university.ASA-GCU termed the appointments as need of the hour for the varsity.
Reportedly, a new legal framework for recruitment has been approved by the Department of Higher Education to make these appointments. Under the new law, registrars and controllers will be appointed in GC University and the Lahore College for Women (LCWU).

The Punjab government has formally approved the new rules and regulations and now work is being carried out on appointments.
Reportedly, there are as many as 15 seats vacant of Controllers of Examinations and Registrars in public sector universities across the province.
