Bahawalpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) and Gujrat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GTCCI) will launch a Mega Business Summit at the Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB) in November.

This was decided during a joint meeting between the delegation of Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Bahawalpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry with Vice Chancellor Engr Prof Dr Athar Mahboob. Among the members of the delegation of Gujarat Chamber of Commerce, Chaudhry Wahiduddin, former president of Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Seth Qamar, former vice president, Imtiaz Kausar, member executive, Munir Ahmed, CEO, Ameen Fan and Bahawalpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry members included Javed Iqbal, former president of Bahawalpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Malik Ejaz Nazim, executive member, Malik Muneeb and other officials. Senior Journalist Naseer Ahmed Nasir, Director Press Media and Publications Shahzad Ahmed Khalid and Wasim Ahmed Siddiqui, Senior Staff Officer were also present on this occasion.

The members of the delegation appreciated the generous role of the Vice-Chancellor Engr Prof Dr Athar Mahboob in the development of higher education opportunities and socio-economic development in the Bahawalpur region and said that more support will be given in the construction and development of the university and the establishment of new projects.

The delegation of Gujarat Chamber of Commerce said that there are many business opportunities in South Punjab and there is a need for investment to promote the establishment of industry in this area and in collaboration with Bahawalpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry, this area efforts will be made for business development. He said that the Islamia University of Bahawalpur has become the biggest university in the country and high-level education is given here and this university has a high position in teaching and research. Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Bahawalpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry along with the Islamia University of Bahawalpur will initiate joint ventures and the platform of the University will be effectively used for the same.

The Islamia University of Bahawalpur has completed a 3 MW solar power project to meet the needs of the campus and will further scale up the energy sector to further strengthen the project. Similarly, through intercropping technology, foreign exchange spent on production of poultry feed and import of edible oil will be saved. Apart from this, the Islamia University of Bahawalpur’s research on cotton crop for textile industry is very valuable and encouraging and other institutions of the country will cooperate with the Islamia University of Bahawalpur in this regard to increase cotton production for textile industry.

Vice-Chancellor Engr Prof Dr Athar Mahboob appreciated the spirit of goodwill of both Chambers of Commerce and said that both Chambers of Commerce are associated with the Islamia University of Bahawalpur through a documentary agreement and now all are in place to implement this agreement. The indication of cooperation from the parties is very welcome and auspicious. The conference will be attended by industrialists, experts from across the country and especially the officials and businessmen of Gujarat and Bahawalpur Chamber of Commerce who will formulate a plan for the business development of Bahawalpur.
