The students of Balochistan studying at various educational institutes in Karachi and the activist of the Voice for Baloch Missing Persons on Friday demonstrated protest in front of Karachi Press club demanding safe recovery of the recently missing students and youth.

Chanting slogans against the federal and provincial governments, the protesters demanded from the concerned authorities to end the enforced disappearance of Baloch students.

While addressing the protesters, the student leaders said that instead of resolving the issue of enforced disappearance, more youth and students have been missing in the last two weeks.

The Voice for Baloch Missing Persons spokesperson, on the occasion, said the present government had claimed that it has done legislation in the parliament to end enforced disappearance. But the recent incidents show that a number of Baloch students have been picked up from their homes recently. Since the last ten days, dozens of students and youth went missing. Owing to this situation, the growing concerns of people are not in anyone’s favor.

Criticizing Prime Minister Imran Khan, the speakers said the PM on hand promises the families of the missing person for the safe recovery of their beloveds, on the other the Law Enforcers abducting students and youth without any judicial warrant. The government should take the issue of missing persons seriously; otherwise, the people of Balochistan would start an international movement for the recovery of those missing.

Even 8-year-old boys and girls are also included among the recently missing persons. If they are involved in any criminal activity, the LEAs should hand over these people to the local police after initial interrogation.
