Balochistan Reopens Thousands of Closed Schools
The Balochistan government has taken a major step toward improving education by reopening 1,400 out of 3,400 previously closed schools across the province. Officials say this move will help boost literacy and ensure children have access to learning opportunities.
A government official told APP that 1,800 more schools are set to reopen by the end of this month, with the remaining 200 expected to resume operations in the third phase. Teacher recruitment is underway, and appointment letters for qualified candidates will be issued soon.
Thanks to recent contract-based hiring, over 1,400 inactive schools have already been reactivated. The official assured that the hiring process will continue until every closed school is functional again.
Under Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti’s leadership, the provincial government is prioritizing teacher recruitment, school restoration, and education quality improvements. The official stressed that education is every child’s right, and efforts are being made to ensure no school remains shut due to teacher shortages or poor facilities.
Special focus will also be given to remote areas, where inactive schools will be reopened promptly to prevent children from missing out on education. The government remains committed to making Balochistan’s education system stronger and more accessible.
