Benazir Bhutto Shaheed University Lyari (BBSUL) on Wednesday held an online ceremony to commemorate the student body of the media club.

The BBSUL Vice Chancellor Dr Akhtar Baloch and Global Neighborhood for Media Innovation (GNMI) President Najia Ashar gave keynote speeches.

Addressing the occasion, Dr Akhtar Baloch said, “Our students were given a wonderful platform by GNMI to train on digital media tools and techniques and I’m certain that this will help them a lot in their professional life.”

Najia Ashar said, “The collaboration between GNMI and BBSUL enabled us to educate students about new digital tools and techniques, empower students in a way where they produce media products along with articles, blogs, videos, reports and lastly teach them about solution journalism which is a new concept where you not only highlight issues around in your neighborhoods and communities but also come up with solutions. In this way, students can independently start their digital outlets and work towards betterment of the society.”

The media club at BBSUL was established in the month of June to equip students on current media techniques, skills, and rightful use of social media platforms to highlight stories of peace, harmony, and tolerance. Members of the media club covered a range of topics in their stories from Waja Raheem Bakhsh Sarbazi School, Diversity in BBSUL, Narayan Pura – a symbol of unity.

Faculty members of BBSUL, GNMI team members and a number of students from the media club attended the event.
