In a bid to promote mental well-being and equip students with essential stress management techniques, the Institute of Psychology at Beaconhouse National University (BNU) held a mindfulness session during the university’s Open Week 2024. The event, designed to foster focus and mental clarity, was open to all students and faculty members, providing a supportive environment for the practice and learning of mindfulness.

Led by esteemed faculty members Ms Lara Naz and Ms Bismah Tayyab, the session aimed to introduce participants to various mindfulness practices that can be incorporated into daily routines to improve overall mental health. Ms Naz and Ms Tayyab, both recognized for their contributions to the field of psychology, guided the attendees through a series of exercises designed to enhance awareness and reduce stress.

The mindfulness session, held in the serene setting of the Institute of Psychology, attracted a diverse group of participants eager to learn about the benefits of mindfulness. The facilitators emphasized the importance of being present in the moment and provided practical tips on how to manage stress in academic and personal life.

Feedback from attendees was overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing gratitude for the opportunity to learn valuable techniques that could help them navigate the pressures of university life. “It was a refreshing experience,” said one student. “I feel more equipped to handle stress and stay focused on my studies.”

The session highlighted BNU’s commitment to the holistic development of its students, recognizing the crucial role that mental health plays in academic success and overall well-being. By offering such events, the Institute of Psychology continues to support the mental health needs of the university community, fostering a culture of mindfulness and self-care.

As Open Week 2024 continues, BNU remains dedicated to providing enriching experiences that contribute to the personal and academic growth of its students and faculty.
