A high-level delegation from the Scotland Chamber of Commerce (SCC) and Robert Gordon University (RGU), led by Scotland’s Trade Ambassador to Pakistan, Dr Jeanette Forbes, OBE, visited the Punjab Central Business District Development Authority (PCBDDA) to explore opportunities for collaboration in education and economic development.
The delegation, including prominent figures such as Professor Lynn Kilbride, Vice Principal of Robert Gordon University, Dr Elliot Pirie, Associate Dean for Academic Development and Student Engagement, Arslan Ijaz Anwer, Director of the FPCCI Pakistan-UK Business Council, and Sana Mehwish, Project Manager at Taar Consulting, was welcomed by Imran Amin, CEO of CBD Punjab.
During the visit, Amin provided an in-depth overview of the ambitious projects underway, with particular focus on the Education District within the CBD NSIT City project. He highlighted the authority’s vision of transforming the area into a global academic hub, featuring cutting-edge facilities designed to attract both local and international universities. “Our goal is to foster innovation and promote higher education by aligning with global standards in education and research,” said Amin.
The Education District initiative is central to CBD Punjab’s strategy to elevate the region’s educational landscape, creating opportunities for academic excellence and research collaborations. Talks with leading universities from around the world are already in progress, underscoring the authority’s commitment to making Punjab a center of learning and innovation.
Dr Forbes praised the initiative, expressing confidence in its potential to spur economic growth in Punjab. “Projects like the Education District are not just about infrastructure but about building future capacities and partnerships. Scotland looks forward to strengthening its ties with Pakistan in these areas,” she stated, voicing optimism about future collaborations between Scotland and Pakistan.
Senior officials from CBD Punjab, including Brigadier (R) Mansoor Janjua, Ali Waqar Shah, Waseem Siddiq, and Sameer Aftab Sial, were also present during the visit. Both sides agreed to continue discussions on forging deeper collaborations in education, research, and economic development.
The visit reflects growing international interest in Punjab’s Central Business District projects, marking a significant step towards establishing the province as a key player in global academic and economic circles.
