Chairperson PEIRA Highlights Commitment to Education at ICCI Seminar

The Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) hosted a pivotal seminar titled ‘Education Emergency and Our Responsibilities’ yesterday, drawing attention to the urgent need for educational reforms in Pakistan. Dr. Syeda Zia Batool, Chairperson of the Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Authority (PEIRA), was a keynote speaker at the event, passionately emphasizing the authority’s unwavering commitment to improving literacy rates through the registration of informal schools.

Dr. Batool highlighted PEIRA’s proactive approach in collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure that every child in Pakistan receives quality education and opportunities for skill development. She underscored that such initiatives are not only vital for individual growth but also crucial for the nation’s overall progress. “Our focus is on inclusivity and ensuring that no child is left behind. By registering informal schools, we are opening doors to education for many who might otherwise be deprived,” she stated.

The seminar was presided over by MNA Muhammad Hanif Abbasi, who commended the ICCI for organizing the event and stressed the importance of collective responsibility in addressing the educational crisis. “It is imperative that all sectors of society come together to tackle this issue. Education is the foundation of a strong nation,” Abbasi remarked.

President of ICCI, Ahsan Zafar Bakhtawari, echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the role of the business community in supporting educational initiatives. He pointed out that a well-educated populace is essential for economic development and prosperity. Former ICCI president and current executive members were also present, demonstrating the Chamber’s unified support for educational advancement.

The seminar saw active participation from representatives of private schools, universities, and civil society organizations, all of whom expressed their commitment to the cause. Discussions centered around practical strategies for improving access to education, enhancing the quality of teaching, and integrating skill development into the curriculum.

The event concluded with a call to action for all attendees to work collaboratively towards addressing the educational emergency facing Pakistan. There was a consensus that with concerted efforts from government bodies, educational institutions, and the private sector, significant strides can be made in ensuring that every child in the country has the opportunity to receive a quality education.

This seminar marks a significant step in the ongoing efforts to reform and improve Pakistan’s educational landscape, highlighting the critical role of stakeholder collaboration in achieving these goals.
