Chinese Counsel General Zhao Shiren visited the University of Punjab (PU) and called on PU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Saleem Mazhar at his office. Deputy Counsel Cao Ke and others also attended the meeting.

Chinese Counsel General Mr Zhao Shiren said that he was happy that Punjab University was playing an important role in promoting Pak-China relations. He said that the exchange programs of teacher and student delegations would be strengthened and enhanced further. He said that China and Pakistan were the best neighbors. He said that relations between China and Pakistan were based on sincere friendship. He said that Punjab University was the best educational institution with historical educational traditions. He congratulated Vice-Chancellor Dr Saleem Mazhar on the improvement in the international ranking of PU. He also lauded Prof Mazhar for his passion and personal dedication to enhancing friendly relations between the two neighbors.

Prof Dr Muhammad Saleem Mazhar said that Punjab University had organized a number of activities to promote people-to-people contact between China and Pakistan. He said that Punjab University welcomed Chinese students and PU was starting a BS program in Chinese language and culture. He said that a number of Chinese students were studying in various disciplines of PU. He said that Chinese were a great and peace-loving nation and China was promoting peace in the world. He said that Chinese technology could also boost Pakistan’s agricultural sector. In the meeting, both explored various avenues of cooperation in the fields of mutual interest. Later, Chinese Consul General His Excellency Mr Zhao Shiren and PU VC Prof Saleem Mazhar exchanged souvenirs.
