Chinese institution signs MOU with ICCBS-UoK

The Institute of Drug Discovery Technology (IDDT), Ningbo University, China, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), University of Karachi (UoK).

The MOU aims to promote cooperation and industrialization in the field of science and technology of drug discovery between the two countries. A spokesman of the ICCBS, University of Karachi, on Monday said the MOU was signed in a meeting held in the IDDT, Ningbo University, China, recently.

According to the spokesman, Prof. Dr. M. Iqbal Choudhary, Director of the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences, and COMSTECH Coordinator-General, and Prof. Dr. Zhao Yufen, the IDDT Dean, signed the memorandum of understanding on behalf of their institutions.

Prof. Iqbal Choudhary, in his speech, mentioned that the ICCBS, University of Karachi, was one of Pakistan’s most eminent centers of excellence, and one of the finest academic research establishments of chemical, biological and biomedical sciences in the world. ICCBS is also engaged in R&D of drug and health products, including structural identification and synthesis of active ingredients with state-of-the-art equipment and technology, as well as an active international exchange platform, he said.

Prof. Yufen said that the Institute of Drug Discovery Technology of Ningbo University was a fast-growing research institute. This institution aims not only to build up up-to-date quality research but also engage the diverse public interest, he said, adding that its current intention is to make a broader impact in the area of chemical and pharmaceutical and space sciences via international and national exposure.

According to the MOU, the broad objectives of this agreement are to promote cooperation in the fields of R&D of drugs and health products, and its transformation and industrialization, as well as staff exchange, etc., these activities should be carried out in accordance with the laws and regulations of the respective countries.
