The Centre for International Strategic Studies, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (CISS-AJK), has reached another significant milestone by signing the ‘Joined Synergy Charter,’ a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), with the Centre for Aerospace and Security Studies (CASS), Islamabad. This marks CISS-AJK’s second formal collaboration with a national think tank, demonstrating its commitment to advancing academic excellence and fostering policy-oriented research.

The MoU was signed by Dr Asma Shakir Khawaja, Executive Director of CISS-AJK, and Air Marshal (R) Javaid Ahmed, President of CASS, during a formal ceremony. The partnership seeks to promote collaborative research and contribute to national discourse on disruptive and emerging technologies while exploring their strategic implications. It will also address critical issues such as the Kashmir conflict within the framework of a rapidly evolving technological landscape.

In her address, Dr Asma Shakir Khawaja highlighted the potential for impactful collaboration, emphasizing shared research interests between the two organizations. She praised the dedication and achievements of the CISS-AJK team, reaffirming the institute’s mission to produce research that informs and influences policy. Dr Khawaja also commended CASS’s pioneering work, noting its contributions to previously unexplored research areas and its role in bridging critical gaps.

Air Marshal (R) Javaid Ahmed acknowledged CISS-AJK’s impressive growth from inception to becoming one of the country’s leading think tanks. He expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, noting that both institutions share common focus areas. He underscored the importance of bringing greater national and international attention to the Kashmir issue, emphasizing its multifaceted nature in an era of rapid technological change.

The event featured presentations from researchers of both institutions, showcasing their expertise and outlining future research priorities. The ceremony concluded with a commitment from both organizations to deepen their collaboration and produce research that will shape national and regional discourse on strategic challenges.
