The Islami Jamiat Talaba (IJT) students of Peshawar University (UoP) protested against the denial of permission for a book fair at Khyber Medical College, leading to a clash between police and students, resulting in several injuries.
According to details, the IJT Peshawar University had announced a three-day book fair at Khyber Medical College (KMC), scheduled to begin on February 24. However, the medical college administration refused to grant permission for the event. In response, the IJT organized a protest demonstration at the university today. During the protest, a scuffle broke out between the students and the police, leaving several students and police officials injured.
Following the clash, IJT-affiliated students blocked University Road, halting all traffic and causing severe disruptions. Long queues of vehicles formed, creating significant difficulties for commuters.
The protesting students have demanded that an FIR be registered and suspension orders issued against Khyber Medical College’s Dean Dr Mahmood Aurangzeb, Chairperson of the Library Society Dr Iram Sabir, the Campus Commandant, DSP, and SHO. They have vowed to continue their protest until their demands are met.
