Classes for 9-12 grade students to resume from Jan 18

ISLAMABAD/LAHORE: Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mehmood said  after a detailed analysis of the situation by health and education ministers the federal government has decided to start classes for 9,10,11,12 grade students as per announced schedule of Jan 18.

In a tweet Shafqat Mehmood said, “Priority is being given to them because of board exams that have been postponed to May, June.”

It has been decided, “All other educational institutions, that is class 1 to 8 and universities will reopen on Feb 1. In the meantime we will review the situation city wise next week,” Shafqat Mehmood said.

The provisional and federal ministries discussed the ongoing wave of Covid-19 considered as more lethal than the first one.

The closure of educational institutions was taken in order to protect students and teachers.

Punjab Education Minister Dr Murad Raas attended the meeting and later said,” Schedule for all schools of Punjab: 9,10,11,12 classes to open on January 18th, 2021. Primary, Middle and Universities will be opening on February 1st, 2021. The situation is being monitored daily for the safety of our students and teachers and their families.”
