The closing ceremony also included a meeting between Consul General Hawkins and UET Vice Chancellor Dr Shahid Munir. Discussions centered on academic exchange opportunities between Pakistani and U.S. universities to benefit students and educators alike.

Conducted with the collaboration of the U.S. government and 16 public universities across Pakistan, the workshop sought to equip students with resources to advance their careers. Esteemed experts from renowned institutions, including Dr Randy McCrillis and Dr Kari Ellingson from the University of Utah, Kerry Johnson from the American University in Cairo (AUC), and Dr Kevin D Arco from Duke University, delivered training sessions on key topics such as student leadership and mental health services.

In her remarks, U.S. Consul General Hawkins highlighted the long-standing partnership between the United States and Pakistan in education. “For decades, the United States has worked to expand educational opportunities for Pakistani students,” she noted. “Through collaboration with Pakistani partners, the U.S. has built schools and universities, provided study-abroad opportunities, and improved the quality of education programs. This USAID workshop is yet another effort to strengthen Pakistan’s higher education system.”

Vice Chancellor Dr Shahid Munir expressed gratitude for the U.S. government’s ongoing support, emphasizing the workshop’s impact on fostering student-centered approaches in Pakistani universities. “This program will significantly enhance student services, benefiting both students and educational institutions,” he said.

The workshop underscores USAID’s commitment to empowering Pakistan’s youth through education, ensuring they are well-equipped to thrive in a competitive global environment.
