Speaking at the certificate distribution ceremony of the 15th Summer Internship program 2022, held at the Golden Jubilee Hall of the international center, Prof Dr M Iqbal Choudhary, Director of ICCBS and Coordinator General COMSTECH, said that this internship program was an earnest opportunity for talented students who sought to get the exposure of working in a world-class research and academic institution.

Highlighting the significance of kindness for a scholar, he advised the students to be kind as kindness is the key to excel and this is what they learn from ICCBS faculty, staff and students each day. He said that in order to excel, they have to bow down and always be very kind.

Prof Choudhary congratulated Prof Dr Asmat Salim and her team for the successful completion of the 15th summer internship program.

As many as 170 students, out of the total 3000 applicants, were selected for this program from all over the country which means that they represent a small fraction, yet highly significant as they are selected purely on merit and are the elite, and are now part of the prestigious internship alumni, he observed.

Prof Dr Asmat Salim, a senior scientist at Dr Panjwani Center for Molecular Medicine and Drug Research (PCMD) and the organizer of the internship program, said “This program was initiated in the year 2008 and since then we organize it regularly every year.”

This year, around 3000 students, who are in their final year of graduation from institutions all over the country, applied for the training program, she said, adding that as a routine procedure, we first did initial short listing and selected 748 students for online tests. Finally, 170 students were selected for training and placed in different sections of the ICCBS, she mentioned.
