A special Coronavirus Vaccination Centre was set up at the Government College University Lahore under the auspices of District Health Department for the vaccination of the university’s employees and students.
Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor Prof. Asghar Zaidi hoped that the GCU Lahore would achieve the target of 100 percent vaccination of its employees by June 7, 2021. He said almost 2000 employees of GCU would be vaccinated at the camp besides students.
Prof. Zaidi believed that there exists misconceptions and disinformation spread through social media about the vaccination which undermine the confidence of the public. He said the vaccine hesitancy was a threat to public health, so to overcome this we are running awareness campaigns among our employees and students against the false and distorted information about the vaccine
The Vice Chancellor said the medical teams of GCU and district health department are also present for the guidance of staff and students at the camp.
He said students aged over 30 walked in and vaccinated immediately, however who were younger registered by sending their CNIC number to 1166.
The faculty and staff appreciated the efforts of Vice Chancellor, saying that GCU is the first university where special Coronavirus Vaccination Centre has been set up. They said such centres should be established at all educational universities because they have large strength of employees.
