Over 300 passionate cyclists took to the streets of Karachi to champion education at The Citizens Foundation’s (TCF) annual event, Cycle for Change. This year’s event witnessed an exciting addition, as a prominent cycling group from Islamabad joined hands with local enthusiasts, adding momentum to the initiative.
Cyclists from various parts of Karachi converged at the TCF School Shirin Sultan Dossa Campus in Qayyumabad to advocate for accessible education. Organized annually since 2021 by the Supporters of TCF (STCF), the event has become a hallmark of community-driven fundraising for educational development in Pakistan.
“The commitment demonstrated by STCF and the leading cycling groups of Karachi in raising awareness and funds for educational initiatives through Cycle for Change is truly commendable. These annual events not only emphasize the importance of education but also unite the community in support of this noble cause,” said Mr. Mazhar Valjee, an avid cyclist from Critical Mass Karachi (CMK).
Mrs. Nighat Daudi, a member of STCF, reflected on the origins of the event, stating, “Cycle for Change is an outstanding fundraising event for The Citizens Foundation. When the pandemic halted everything, we struggled to raise funds for our children. That’s when we came up with the idea for Cycle for Change, and to our surprise, it quickly gained tremendous support.”
For nearly three decades, TCF has remained dedicated to its mission of educating underprivileged children in Pakistan—transforming their lives by bringing them from the streets into classrooms. From its humble beginnings with five schools in 1995, the organization now oversees an impressive enrolment of 301,000 students across 2,033 school units nationwide.
The enthusiastic participation of cyclists from diverse backgrounds at this year’s Cycle for Change underscores a shared commitment to fostering a brighter future for Pakistan’s youth. Looking ahead, TCF is eager to sustain this tradition as a vibrant annual event, strengthening community ties and advancing its mission to make education accessible to all.
