Decision to destroy single national curriculum to reward UK publishers

LinkedIn

LAHORE: The federal and provincial governments have decided to destroy the single national curriculum to reward UK publishers. President Fawaz Niaz and General Secretary Dr Naeem Khalid of Text Book Publishers Association expressed these views while addressing the members of the association in a meeting.

He said that when the officials of the association informed the concerned agencies about this irregularity, the board of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was content to cancel the NOC of only one book while the federal and Punjab governments were in a quandary. Save the single national curriculum or foreign publishers. He said that in this situation, educationists, publishers and school principals are in a dilemma as to whether the PTI government is serious about implementing the single national curriculum or not because of the manner in which the provincial and federal government agencies NOCs are being given to books by UK publishers not only on the Single National Curriculum but also written 14 or 15 years before the birth of the SNC.

In the implementation of the single national curriculum, the concessions being given to UK publishers are not being given to national publishers and thus the books of UK publishers are being made above the books of national publishers. Association demanded that if the government do not take immediate action, national publishers would be completely wiped out and the lords’ dream would be embarrassing that we should teach our children the values of the UK, their heroes and their ways. And soon we will lose our national significance in the name of this single national curriculum.
