Lahore: University of Education, Lahore hosted a Declamation Contest and Musical Performance on National Song among the students on the occasion of Pakistan Day at Township Campus. After the competitions, a prestigious ceremony was organized for the distribution of prizes among the winning students. The ceremony was presided over by the Vice Chancellor, University of Education, Lahore Prof. Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha.

Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha said that March 23 is undoubtedly a proud and enviable day in our national history. This day marks a milestone in our lives. This day was named Pakistan Day because a formal resolution for a separate state for Muslims was passed. He said that it should be Pakistan Day and Allama Iqbal should not be mentioned, it is not possible because Allama Iqbal dreamed of Pakistan at a time when Muslim Ummah in India was suffering from disunity and division. Iqbal made the Ummah realize the establishment of a separate Islamic state. Then a few years after these same thoughts of Iqbal, Quaid-e-Azam came back from England and made them a reality. March 23 laid the groundwork for the establishment of Pakistan, which was in fact the embodiment of Iqbal’s dream.

At the end, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha and Director Students Affairs Dr. Muhammad Umer Saleem distributed prizes and certificates among the winning students. Dr. Muhammad Omar Saleem, Director Student Affairs of the University, thanked the chief guest and other attendees for their presence.
