The Sindh Madressatul Islam University (SMIU) held its Convocation 2021 at the local banquet on Wednesday where 528 students were conferred degrees.

The total students included 459 undergraduate and 69 Graduate students from 10 programs. 8 girls were awarded with gold medals from 9 students while 14 were awarded with silver medals.

The ceremony was presided over by the varsity Chancellor, Sindh Governor Imran Ismail while Minister for Universities and Boards Muhammad Ismail Rahoo also joined the occasion and conferred the degrees to the students.

Congratulating the students, the Governor Imran Ismail said absolute sincerity and dedication could help achieve anything in life. “You are now alumni of historical institute Sindh Madressatul Islam which is alma mater of founder of Pakistan Quaid i Azam.” He commended the institute for achieving academic excellence and said that his house and SMI have similarity regarding the founder of Pakistan, I had wish to visit SMIU but today feels much happy to interact with the students of this historical institute. He invited students of the SMIU to visit the governor house. He louds the efforts of girls that 90% of medals have been won by girls. These talented girls are assets of this country but after graduation majority of them are forced out of their career by parents. He urged the parents to let their daughters play their role in the development of Pakistan.

Minister for Universities and Boards and Pro Chancellor of SMIU Muhammad Ismail Rahoo said today is proud day not only for the students but also for the parents. Today your one milestone is completed but another to start from today he said and added further “You have completed your degree and now professional experience and career will start today”.

The Vice Chancellor of SMIU Prof. Dr. Mujeebuddin Sahrai Memon said SMIU carries a legacy of 137 years with credit of producing visionary leadership, educationists, sports and icons of any field and top. We are just 9 years old starting with five programs, 129 students and around 150 faculty and staff and today we are running sixteen programs having student’s population of 4000 with 87 faculty members of which 40% PhD. “In addition to these facilities at its city campus, the development work is going on with full swing on its 100-acres land in Education City, Malir. He congratulated the passing out students and wished them best to enter in their professional lives and to serve their country.
