Delay in Karachi Board Results

The inexperienced caretaker government of Sindh has plunged the educational sector into chaos, significantly delaying the declaration of matriculation and intermediate exam results for the Karachi boards (BSEK) and (BIEK). This haphazard management is adversely affecting hundreds of thousands of students. In Karachi, students are still waiting for the 9th grade results in both science and general groups, while the process of finalizing the 11th grade (inter-year 1) results is erratic due to ongoing changes in the board. This prevailing uncertainty is causing severe anxiety among about 200,000 students in 9th and 11th grades. Additionally, there’s growing apprehension about the possible delay of some papers in the Inter supplementary exams, amid concerns about the forthcoming general elections. The 9th and 10th grade (matriculation) annual exams took place in May 2023, followed by the 11th grade exams in July. However, the results for the 9th grade are still not announced, and the 11th grade results are pending as well.It appears that the results for the 9th grade science and general groups are ready but have not been released due to a lack of invigilators available to sign them, causing a deadlock.Adding to the complexity, the decision of the Sindh government to abolish invigilator exams has led to further complications. A month has elapsed without the appointment of an officer to oversee the examination process, leading to an extended delay in publishing the results.Professor Sharaf Ali Shah, the Chairman of the Secondary Education Board Karachi, is aware of the situation but has yet to release the results due to ongoing inquiries and unresolved issues.About 100,000 students in Karachi have been left in limbo for over seven months, uncertain about their 9th grade performance. The ambiguity regarding their progress, preparations for the 10th grade, and implications of potential failures are causing significant stress among these students.
