Design Summit Lahore 2024 Unveils intricacies of design Discourse

The Design Summit Lahore 2024 has commenced, heralding a new era in the exploration of design discourse both within Pakistan and across the Global South. Spearheaded by the Mariam Dawood School of Visual Arts and Design (MDSVAD) at Beaconhouse National University (BNU), this groundbreaking summit is set to unveil the multifaceted world of design through an array of exhibitions, discussions, projects, and pavilions.

Embracing the theme “Everything that has been designed or will be designed is being designed right now,” introduced by Prof. Ijlal Muzaffar from the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), the Design Summit aims to cultivate a dynamic dialogue on the subject. It serves as a convergence point for international speakers, design scholars, practitioners, and forward-thinkers to explore diverse topics including Artificial Intelligence, Planetary Geographies, Language, and beyond.

Initiated by Rashid Rana and his team at MDSVAD, BNU, the Design Summit stands as a testament to collaborative efforts involving the Punjab Walled Cities Authority, Rhode Island School of Design, and IAP, marking a significant milestone in Pakistan’s design panorama. As part of BNU’s 20th-anniversary festivities, the event unfolds against the backdrop of Lahore’s historic Walled City and BNU Campus from March 7 to 13, 2024, with pavilions remaining open for public viewing at Lahore Fort until April 15, 2024.
