Lieutenant General Nadeem Ahmed Anjum, the Director General of Inter-Services Intelligence (DG ISI), held an unprecedented meeting at the Garrison Auditorium in Lahore on Tuesday, January 23rd. Despite no official account released by the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), various versions of the event are circulating on social media. According to details shared by well-known journalist Mansoor Ali Khan, the session commenced at 12:30 pm and extended for over 3.5 hours. Interestingly, General Nadeem’s address lasted a mere 20 minutes before the commencement of a robust question and answer session.
Students from 12 universities in Lahore, including notable institutions like UMT, GCU, and Punjab University, actively participated in the session. Mansoor Ali Khan, in his recent YouTube Vlog, reported that a total of 48 questions were fielded by the DG ISI. These inquiries delved into a wide range of topics, encompassing the current political and economic landscape of the country. Queries spanned from the timing of elections to Pakistan-India relations and the ongoing economic challenges confronting the nation.
The DG ISI not only provided encouragement to those posing questions but also delivered well-reasoned and insightful responses. When asked about Pakistan’s relations with India, the DG ISI emphasized that a sustainable solution to the Kashmir issue is indispensable for fostering any diplomatic ties. In response to a question regarding the construction of a fence along the western border, General Nadeem underscored the importance of border regulation in safeguarding Pakistan’s sovereignty and security. He highlighted the necessity of restricting illegal activities, including smuggling, to official border gates, thereby ensuring a controlled and secure border environment.
