Dr Zulqernain Butt, a Grade-19 senior consultant anesthetist, has been arrested in connection with a terrorism case after allegedly firing at two school buses in the Cantonment area on Wednesday morning.

Following the shooting, Dr Butt reportedly returned home, dropped his children off at school, and then went to his part-time job at a private hospital on Ferozepur Road.
Authorities recovered a 9mm pistol, allegedly used in the incident, from a locker at the private hospital. Police revealed that the suspect has a history of aggressive behavior and unprovoked violence over minor issues. An FIR has been registered against him on charges of terrorism and attempted murder.
The incident unfolded on Bedian Road near Waqas Market, where two school buses were en route to pick up children. One bus slowed down to take a U-turn, prompting the suspect, driving behind in his car, to attempt overtaking multiple times. His vehicle collided with one of the buses during the maneuver, reportedly enraging him.
The suspect then allegedly opened fire, with one bullet striking a bus tire. Fortunately, no children were aboard that bus. When the bus driver intervened, the suspect fled the scene.
The driver informed the school management, who alerted law enforcement. Police, with the help of senior officials, tracked down and arrested the suspect within hours.
This shocking incident has heightened concerns about public safety and road rage. Authorities have assured a thorough investigation to address these concerns.
