Dr Ghulam Nabi Fai Visits UAJK for Faculty Meetup

Dr. Ghulam Nabi Fai, Secretary General of the World Kashmir Awareness Forum (WKAF) based in Washington, visited the University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (UAJK) to participate in a dynamic Faculty Meetup focused on the enduring Kashmir Conflict.

The event, held at UAJK’s City Campus, convened senior faculty members, department heads, and esteemed guests to deepen understanding and explore pathways to resolve one of the world’s most persistent conflicts.

Dr. Fai, celebrated for his relentless advocacy for Kashmiri rights, brought invaluable insights to the discussion, drawing from his extensive experience. He emphasized the critical role of rigorous academic research in shaping global perceptions of the Kashmir Conflict, urging scholars to present nuanced perspectives that reflect the realities on the ground.

The meetup featured engaging dialogues led by Dr. Fai, alongside prominent figures such as Prof. Dr. Muhammad Kaleem Abbasi, Vice-Chancellor of UAJK, and Dr. Waleed Rasool. Dr. Fai’s impassioned plea for the creation of scholarly literature on Kashmir resonated deeply, inspiring Prof. Dr. Abbasi to commit to establishing a dedicated Kashmir Center within the university. This center, coupled with a new Journal on Kashmir Studies, aims to cement UAJK’s role in promoting understanding and dialogue on the Kashmir issue.

Reflecting on the event, Prof. Dr. Abbasi remarked, “Dr. Ghulam Nabi Fai’s visit has provided a unique opportunity for our faculty members to gain deeper insights into the complexities of the Kashmir Conflict. His expertise has inspired us to redouble our efforts in promoting informed discourse and advancing scholarly research on this pressing issue.”

Dr. Waleed Rasool echoed these sentiments, highlighting the importance of such platforms in fostering meaningful exchanges and mutual understanding. He underscored the significance of the Faculty Meetup in facilitating dialogue that can contribute to resolving the conflict.

The event marked a significant step forward for UAJK, signaling a strong commitment to advancing academic contributions that can influence the broader discourse on the Kashmir Conflict and foster a deeper understanding among global audiences.
