Dr Zia Ul-Qayyum, the Executive Director of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan and Chairperson of the Governing Board of South Asian University (SAU), New Delhi, conducted an official visit to the university on Thursday. During his visit, he met with the President of SAU, Prof K.K. Aggarwal, a distinguished academician with numerous accolades.
In the meeting, Prof. Aggarwal provided a comprehensive briefing on the university’s progress and ongoing initiatives, highlighting recent development activities. These include the expansion of residential and academic facilities on the campus, which are part of the university’s broader efforts to enhance its infrastructure and academic environment.
Dr Zia Ul-Qayyum’s visit comes in preparation for the upcoming Board of Governors (BoG) meeting, which he is scheduled to chair on August 23-24. This meeting is expected to cover key strategic decisions concerning the university’s future direction and development.
SAU, an international university established by the eight member nations of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC), continues to play a pivotal role in fostering regional cooperation and academic excellence in South Asia. The visit of Dr Zia Ul-Qayyum underscores the importance of cross-border collaboration in higher education within the region.
