KARACHI: Federation of All Pakistan Universities Academic Staff Association (FAPUASA)— Sindh Chapter in its open letter written to all vice-chancellors of the public sector universities  has demanded to grant leave encashment on Eid-ul-Fitr to the employees of varsities.

“Leave encashment is the basic right of employees, it’s been a decade or so that only few universities granting the allowance to employees. However, employees of a majority of state-run universities are still waiting for the same allowance this year”, the letter read.

Addressing the VCs, the FAPUASA provincial President, and General Secretary have highlighted that due to drastic increase in inflation and inadequate salary enhancement, it has become even more necessary that vice-chancellors should immediately grant the Eid Allowance and leave encashment to reduce the financial burden of university employees.

In its earlier press release issued by the federation had warned that if the universities didn’t grant leave allowance, it would be considered as undermining the basic rights of faculty members, and the FAPUASA Sind, which according to the federation is the custodian of due rights of faculty will take the further democratic step to protect the rights of faculty.
