FCCU Celebrates 26th Commencement Ceremony

Forman Christian College (FCCU) marked a milestone in its storied 160-year history with the celebration of its 26th Commencement Ceremony. Held on Saturday, the event witnessed the graduation of 1,293 students across undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs, underscoring the university’s unwavering commitment to academic excellence and societal service.

The graduating cohort comprised 1,025 bachelor’s students, 262 postgraduate students, and six PhD scholars, representing a diverse range of academic disciplines. The ceremony was presided over by FCCU’s Rector, Dr Jonathan S Addleton, with Registrar Dr Nayer Fardows serving as Director of Commencement. Faculty, staff, dignitaries, and proud families filled the venue, creating an atmosphere of celebration and inspiration.

The event featured heartfelt valedictory speeches by outstanding graduates. Undergraduate valedictorian Mr. Sanwal Hussain, who achieved an impressive CGPA of 3.993, reflected on the transformative experiences of his peers. Representing the postgraduate class, Ms. Maliha Ilyas, with a perfect CGPA of 4.00, inspired attendees with her aspirations and commitment to excellence, embodying the spirit of FCCU.

Students were recognized for their outstanding achievements with awards such as Excellence Medals, Certificates of Distinction, and placement on the Roll of Honor. These accolades highlighted not only academic success but also dedication to co-curricular excellence.

In his keynote address, Dr Addleton commended the graduates’ perseverance and resilience, urging them to carry forward the values of hope and faith in their personal and professional lives. “You are the torchbearers of FCCU’s legacy. Approach the future with optimism and a commitment to making a meaningful impact,” he said.

Dr Addleton also shared the university’s achievement of candidacy status with the New England Higher Education Commission, a significant step toward international accreditation. This milestone reflects FCCU’s dedication to maintaining its position as a leading institution of higher learning.

Founded in 1864, FCCU has grown from its humble beginnings into a premier educational institution, currently serving nearly 9,000 students. Guided by its motto, “By love serve one another,” FCCU has consistently emphasized service and purpose, shaping generations of leaders committed to societal betterment.

As the Class of 2024 embarks on their journeys, the commencement ceremony stood as a testament to FCCU’s enduring mission to inspire, educate, and serve. With the achievements of its graduates, the university reaffirmed its commitment to fostering leaders who will make a lasting difference in the world.
