Federal Govt Announces Reopening of Educational Institutions in Phases

Pakistan’s federal and provincial governments have announced to reopen the educational institutions in three phases from January 18. Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mehmood chaired the Inter-Provincials Education Ministers meeting in Islamabad.

The meeting decided to reopen schools and college for grade-9 to grade 12 from January 18 and Grade-1 to Grade-8 from January 25. However, all the universities will resume regular classes from February 1.

Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mehmood addressing a news conference in Islamabad said inter-provincial education ministers meeting decided to reopen educational institutions in three phases.

He said the decisions were taken in consultation with all provincial education ministers. He said a review meeting will be held on January 15.

“All board examinations will be conducted in May and June,” the federal education minister announced.

Punjab Education Minister Dr Murad Raas addressing the media after attending the conference via online said the meeting decided to reopen the educational institutions.
