Out of fifteen Members Cabinet of Punjab, eight are foreign-qualified

Today the fifteen-member cabinet of Punjab was sworn in by the Governor of Punjab Mr. Muhammad Baligh Ur Rehman. Though there are some old faces inducted in the cabinet, there are also some new faces from the party that have been given important portfolios. All fifteen members of the cabinet are graduates of well-reputed universities but eight of them have gained higher education from the western universities.

Their details are as follows:
1. Syed Muhammad Ashiq Hussain Shah: Member of Provincial Assemble from PP-186 Okara, Ashiq Hussain has done B.A Hons in Political and Development Studies from the University of Sussex, UK. He was previously a member of the National Assembly from 2013-18. He has been given a portfolio of agriculture.

2. Rana Sikandar Hayat: MPA from the constituency of Kasur PP-183, Rana Sikandar has graduated from the University of Toronto in Business Administration. Previously, he served as the Chairman of the Political Council Kasur in 2017. Rana Sikandar Hayat is set to take on the role of minister of education.

3. Bilal Akber Khan: MPA from the Constituency of Narowal, Bilal Akbar Khan is a graduate in Finance from Ohio State University (OSU) USA. He will be overseeing the Ministry of Transport in Punjab.

4. Shoaib Ahmed Malik: MPA from Sargodha, Shoaib Ahmed Malik has studied LLM at the London Metropolitan University (LondonMet) and has previously served as a Political Assistant to the Chief Minister. He is set to take up the ministry of communication.

5. Ramish Singh Arora: Representing the minorities of Punjab, Ramish Singh has been given the Minority Affairs portfolio. He is a graduate of Harvard Business School (HBS) and has held key positions in the previous administration in Punjab.

6. Faisal Ayub Khokhar: The son of PLMN stalwart, Saif ul Malook Khokhar, this is the first MPAship of Faisal Auyb is a graduate of the University of Toronto (uToronto) in Business Administration. He will be overseeing the Sports affairs in Punjab.

7. Shaffay Hussain: Ch Shafay Hussain is the son of veteran politician and former Prime Minister Ch Shujat Hussain, and brother of former Federal Minister, Ch Salik Hussain. He graduated from Bellerbeys College, Cambridge, UK, and Hamilton College Oxford.

8. Mariam Aurangzeb: Elected on women’s quota, Mariam Aurangzeb is set to take a key role as a senior minister in the newly formed cabinet of Punjab. She is a graduate of King’s College London (KCL), in Environment and Development Economics. Previously she has held key ministries in the Punjab and Federal governments as well.
