A significant step towards accessible education was taken as the foundation stone for the Community School was laid at the New Campus of Government College University Faisalabad (GCUF). This initiative aims to provide quality primary education from Nursery to Grade 5, benefiting both the university’s staff and the local community.
The ceremony was led by renowned GCUF alumnus, Engineer Qamar-u-Zaman, and Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Rauf-i-Azam. Several university alumni, directors, and faculty members attended the event to celebrate this milestone. Engineer Qamar-u-Zaman has made a generous financial contribution toward the construction of the school, reaffirming his dedication to education. Previously, he had donated 4 million PKR for the expansion and renovation of the university’s main library.
Speaking at the occasion, Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Rauf-i-Azam highlighted the significance of the project, stating that it is not just a school but a realization of a vision that will lead to a more educated and prosperous community. He also announced the establishment of an Endowment Fund at GCUF, aimed at supporting scholarships and welfare initiatives for students and faculty members.
Engineer Qamar-u-Zaman, who pursued higher education in the USA after completing his intermediate studies at Government College Faisalabad, expressed his deep emotional connection with Pakistan and his hometown, Lyallpur. As a further testament to his commitment, he announced scholarships for deserving students, aligning with GCUF’s mission of making education accessible to all.
Contributions like those of Engineer Qamar-u-Zaman not only empower students but also encourage others to invest in education, fostering long-term social progress.
