LinkedIn

The Senate members of the Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology have demanded the President of Pakistan and the Chancellor of the University Dr. Arif Alvi to immediately appoint a permanent Vice-Chancellor in the University.

In a statement, Fuuast senate members Dr. Tauseef Ahmad Khan, Dr. Syed Tahir Ali, and Dr. Irfan Aziz have said that the university’s Senate on July 27 had recommended three names for the appointment VC at the varsity. The list of those recommended names has been sent to the President House. However, the chancellor is yet to make a choice and appoint the VC.

According to the rules, the President of Pakistan will approve one of these three names. It is to be noted that the university has been deprived of a permanent Vice Chancellor for more than two years and during this period Dr. Arif Zubair and Dr. Rubina Mushtaq have been appointed as Acting Vice Chancellors for a period of six months.

The term of the current Acting Vice-Chancellor has been expired on September 15. Therefore, the Senate members demand permanent VC at the varsity so that any new administrative crisis could be avoided.
