An intercollegiate poster exhibition highlighting environmental issues has received a warm response from students and art lovers at the Government College University (GCU) Lahore. Vice Chancellor GCU Prof Dr Asghar Zaidi inaugurated the exhibition organized by the GC university’s Biological Society.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof Zaidi said Government College University is formulating a policy to make its campus environment friendly. Art is a very effective tool to reflect on environmental issues and transform society.

He said that they have banned the use of plastic bags on campus, and are now encouraging their students to use electric motorcycles.

VC GCU appreciated that students not only highlighted environmental issues like pollution, water scarcity, climate change, plastic waste, and threats to biodiversity, but they also tried to offer solutions through their posters.

The Vice Chancellor said the young artists in Pakistan have immense talent what they just are guidance and support from parents, teachers and educational institutions.

Students from different colleges and universities put on display a wide range of artworks ranging from pencil sketches to oil paintings and photography to digital artwork. As many as 30 posters were presented in the art exhibition at the GC university’s Abdus Salam Hall.
