GCUF Law Students Visit Parliament and Supreme Court

A 45-member delegation from the Department of Law at Government College University Faisalabad (GCUF), led by Chairman Dr Ghulam Murtaza, embarked on an insightful study tour of Islamabad, visiting the Parliament House, Supreme Court, and Federal Shariat Court. The delegation included esteemed faculty members Dr Muhammad Amir Manj, Dr Fauzia Naseem, Dr Muhammad Imran, Dr Babar Shaheen, and a large group of students.

During their visit to the Senate Museum, students received a comprehensive briefing on the history and evolution of Pakistan’s parliamentary system. They also watched a documentary highlighting the formation of the Senate, significant legislative milestones, and key parliamentary traditions.

At the Supreme Court, the delegation had the unique opportunity to witness live court proceedings presided over by Chief Justice of Pakistan, Mr Justice Yahya Afridi. They also explored the Supreme Court Museum, gaining valuable insights into Pakistan’s judicial history and landmark legal cases.

The visit to the Federal Shariat Court included an interactive session with Justice Dr Syed Muhammad Anwar, where students engaged in discussions on Islamic laws, their implementation, and judicial procedures. Additionally, the delegation met with Chief Justice of the Federal Shariat Court, Justice Iqbal Hameed ur Rahman, for an in-depth discussion on various aspects of Islamic jurisprudence.

Students also had the privilege of meeting the Vice Chairman of the Pakistan Bar Council, Chaudhry Tahir Nasrullah Warraich, to discuss legal education, advocacy, and career opportunities in the legal profession.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Ghulam Murtaza emphasized the university’s commitment to providing students with practical exposure under the leadership of Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Rauf-I-Azam. He highlighted that such study tours play a crucial role in enhancing students’ analytical and research skills, allowing them to develop a deeper understanding of Pakistan’s legal and parliamentary frameworks.

This educational visit provided students with invaluable real-world learning experiences, reinforcing their academic knowledge and preparing them for successful careers in law.
