One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Gracia Marquez 

One Hundred Years of Solitude is another timeless classic which was first originally published in Spanish in 1967. Since then, it has been published in more than 44 languages. This book illustrates the history of the fictional Colombian town Macondo which was established by the incestuous Beundia family. This classic novel depicts a colorful saga which captures the magic realism of political and social allegory. Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte 

This in an all time classic, a story based on two families living on the West Yorkshire moors. The novel was influenced by romanticism and gothic fiction. The story revolves around the main character, Heathcliff as he grows up in the family who adopted him when he was merely seven years old, given the status of a servant, he runs away and returns as an educated rich man bent on revenge. 

The Phantom of the Opera by Gaston Leroux

Emma by Jane Austen

The story is about a rich girl, Emma Woodhouse who plays a matchmaker for her friends even though she is sure that she might never get married herself. The novel is packed with humor, filled with romance and is readable specially for those individuals who are looking to read Jane Austen’s classic novels for the very first time. 

To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee 

To Kill a Mockingbird is a renowned book, many of you must have heard about this book, it is written by Harper Lee. The book explores quite complex themes such as the civil rights and racism. The main objective this novel contains is about the nature of humans, whether they are essentially good or essentially evil. The three main themes of this book are about family, prejudice, and courage.

Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte 

This novel was way ahead of its time, focusing about the inner struggles of a woman caused by social norms, personal desires, and moral obligations. The novel describes how from a young age, Jane Eyre was able to withstand the hardships she experienced after losing her parents. The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger
