GSCWU Bahawalpur Holds Seminar on Breast Cancer Awareness

A one-day seminar on breast cancer awareness was jointly organized by the Directorate of Student Affairs and the Department of Zoology at The Government Sadiq College Women University (GSCWU) Bahawalpur.

Dr Sidra Aleem, a senior surgeon and assistant professor at Bahawal Victoria Hospital (BVH), was the keynote speaker at the event. Addressing the attendees, Dr Aleem highlighted the significance of early detection in combating breast cancer. She emphasized the importance of self-examination and encouraged women to remain vigilant about any changes in their bodies.

“Awareness and timely consultation are crucial. If one woman in a family is affected, it is essential for all female relatives to undergo medical screening,” Dr Aleem advised, stressing the role of family support in managing the disease.

The seminar concluded with an awareness walk, symbolizing solidarity with breast cancer patients and promoting the importance of early diagnosis. Faculty members, students, and university staff participated enthusiastically in the walk, reinforcing their commitment to spreading awareness about the disease.

The event was part of the university’s broader efforts to engage students in meaningful health initiatives and empower them to play an active role in community health awareness.
