Habib University announced its 7th YOHSIN lecture, titled, Clash of Visions in the Third World: Are We All Dreaming of Gatecrashing Into the Colonisers’ World? The lecture will be held online on December 28.

The YOHSIN Lecture series is Habib University’s flagship series which provides a platform for engagement with leading scholars from around the world.

Leading post-colonial thinker Professor Ashis Nandy, a clinical psychologist, social theorist, and a political critic, will deliver this year’s lecture. According to Foreign Policy magazine, Professor Nandy is one of the Top 100 public intellectuals in the world, and one of the greatest living thinkers of the South Asian region. His talk will explore the alternatives to the reigning ideas of development, nationalism and the aping of the colonizers.

Professor Nandy has been in the forefront of imagining alternative global futures for decades and many of his predictions both for his country of origin, as well as for the world at large, have come true in the recent past.  The session will be aired at 7:00 pm (PST), hosted by Dr. Nauman Naqvi Associate Professor, Comparative Humanities, Habib University.
