In a shocking revelation, the headmistress of a government school in Johar Town, Lahore, has been accused of demanding bribes in the form of expensive dresses to process pension documents.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe! The controversy erupted when Rehan Bashir, a resident of Iqbal Town, lodged a formal complaint with the Anti-Corruption Bureau. According to Rehan, he approached the Government Girls High School, Samsani Khui, to finalize pension documents for his late mother, who was a retired teacher. However, his efforts hit an unexpected roadblock when the headmistress allegedly refused to sign the paperwork unless he provided five fancy dresses.
Rehan, determined to expose the misconduct, secretly recorded school staff relaying the headmistress’s demands. Despite his attempts to negotiate, the headmistress only relented after receiving three dresses. Disheartened by this blatant corruption, Rehan initially filed a complaint with the School Education Department (SED) Punjab. However, after waiting for two months without any action, he escalated the matter to the Anti-Corruption Bureau, submitting the recording as evidence.
The bureau has since summoned the headmistress, other school staff, and the CEO of education for questioning. Despite repeated directives, the accused failed to appear, prompting the bureau to demand that the CEO ensure their presence for investigation.
The case has sparked outrage, with critics condemning the abuse of power in public institutions and calling for stricter accountability measures. While the investigation unfolds, it highlights a pervasive issue of corruption within bureaucratic processes, particularly in the education sector.
The Anti-Corruption Bureau is expected to take stringent action to ensure justice and set a precedent against such malpractices.
