HEC Chairman Endorses Book Fair Revival at PU

The second day of Pakistan’s largest three-day book fair, organized by the Punjab University (PU) administration, saw the enthusiastic participation of thousands of visitors. With an impressive start of 33 thousand books sold on the opening day, the event garnered significant attention. Among the attendees on the second day were Chairman of the Higher Education Commission (HEC), Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed, Punjab University’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Khalid Mahmood, senior anchor Ajmal Jami, renowned columnists, journalists, lawyers, doctors, writers, poets, teachers from PU Gujranwala campus, students, and individuals from diverse backgrounds.

In his address, Dr. Ahmed Mukhtar commended the commendable effort to revive activities like the book fair at Punjab University after a prolonged hiatus. He applauded the efforts of VC Dr. Khalid Mahmood and the administration, stressing the importance of other institutions following Punjab University’s lead in organizing such events. Dr. Mukhtar emphasized the transformative power of books in fostering personal growth and urged a comprehensive approach to education to compete globally.

Prof. Dr. Khalid Mahmood reflected on the significance of reinstating the book fair, acknowledging that the activity had been stalled for many years. He praised Punjab University for its nine years of organizing the fair, remarking on its contribution to preserving traditions that would continue in the future.
