The Higher Education Commission (HEC) fired the consultants recruited by former chairman Dr Tariq Banuri.
In a recent development, the HEC did not extend the contracts of eight consultants who were hired on hefty salaries, perks and privileges. These consultants were getting salaries up to Rs 800,000.
According to the details, the contracts of 8 consultants were completed in December but the management of HEC decided not to renew their contract therefore all eight consultants have resigned on completion of their contracts.

The consultants included Legal Affairs Consultant Dawood Munir, IT MIS Consultant Rizwan Rashid, Consultant Finance and Accounts Muhammad Arshad, IT Consultant Asif Shahid Khan, Consultant National Academy Sara Zaman, Fazal Abbas and Legal Advisor Mansoor Tariq.
